The Committee will undertake a working visit in the Kingdom, to assess actions taken to implement its recommendations on the country's Initial Report, and examine their impact on the rights & welfare of children.

Republic of Botswana: Has withdrawn its reservation on Article 2 of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child

The African Union Commission presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions of all Member States to the African Union, and has the honour to inform the latter that the Republic of Botswana has withdrawn its reservation on Article 2 of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, which were entered vide its instrument of ratification, deposited with the Commission on 10 July 2001.
The African Union Commission avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Permanent Missions of all Member States the assurances of its highest consideration.

Current Bureau: November 2023- November 2025

The Committee consists of 11 members of high moral integrity, elected by the Assebmbly of Heads of States and Governments of the African Union for a renewable term of five years. They serve in their personal capacity. The Committee elects its own Bureau for a period of two years with the possibility of re-election. The Bureau of the committee consists of a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson, and a Rapporteur.

The ACERWC Concludes its Follow Up Mission in Liberia 09 November 2019, Monrovia, Liberia

The African Committee Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) concluded its follow up mission to monitor the status of implementation of its Concluding Observations and Recommendations issued to the Republic of Liberia. The mission took place from 6 to 8 Nov 2019 in Monrovia, Liberia and it was led by Hon. Dikere Marie Christine Bocoum, Country Rapporteur of Liberia, and the 1st Vice President of the ACERWC.
