Follow Up Missions

The Committee issues several recommendations and decisions to States from its various mandates such as the State Party reporting procedures, communication procedures, resolutions, letter or urgent appeals, among others. The Committee carries out follow-up visits to States to assess the level of State compliance with its recommendations and decisions. Rule 74 of the Rules of Procedures of the Committee provides that the Committee may carryout follow-up missions on the implementation of its concluding observations and recommendations. Moreover, the Guidelines for Consideration of Communications and Monitoring Implementation of Decisions provide that the Committee contacts States or any other necessary stakeholders to follow-up on the implementation of its decisions. In general terms, the Committee conducts follow-up missions to assess implementation of any of its recommendations and decisions.
